The official eNewsletter of the CALGARY MOSQUITO SOCIETY
Retain, Restore, Honour and Educate
Welcome to Volume 6 (January 5, 2009)
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Aero Space Museum
City of Calgary staff sent out a press release on Monday concerning this meeting. The purpose of even that document was to devalue
the Mosquito ('It wasn't built in Canada. It never saw action in the war. It would take millions of dollars to restore').
Saddest of all, it is now clear that City staff are promoting the Aero Space Museum Board's agenda to still seek a sale of the
Mosquito.
Be there if you can; either night. Remember do not check the boxes on the questionnaire, but do write in what you would like to
see. Don't be shy about mentioning the Calgary Mosquito Society as the best option for the Mosquito.
Thanks to those who have shared their thoughts and written responses with me: Some passionate, sincere and articulate thoughts
there.
Bring friends/family as anyone can fill in questionnaire. Look for some newpaper coverage in Tuesday's Sun
(click here to read) and some TV at Tuesday night's meeting.
If you can't make it, send a copy of your responses to Gerry Laing and/or our aldermen
I have attached a Word Document copy of the questionnaire. Forward this note to any whom you think may have an interest.
BIG THANKS to Betty Campbell of Ottawa for getting her DVD about the early days of aerial survey work in Canada to
me. Its a treat that I hope to share with everyone at our next meeting. More on the DVD and meeting later.
UNRELATED BUT INTERESTING: Join the Calgary chapter of the Canadian Aviation Historical Society on Thursday,
January 15 for a presentation by Handley Page Halifax salvage expert Karl Kjarsgaard @ Art Smith Aero Center of SAIT, 1916 McCall
Landing NE, 7 p.m. No cost. No politics. Just cool airplane people.
As always, my thanks.
